IR – Instrument Rating

To obtain the Instrument Rating, you will have to learn how to fly from takeoff to landing with sole reference to the instruments installed in your flight deck. The theoretical knowledge course and flight instruction in the airplane and the FNPT II simulator prepare you to fly in many weather conditions not accessible to VFR pilots. The IR training is especially focused on the use of departure, en route, arrival and approach procedures in marginal to poor weather conditions. It also prepares you to fly within the international air traffic control system. Apart from a more in-depth treatment of all aspects of flying, theory classes focus on applicable rules of the air, procedures, instrument flight planning and weather. The instrument rating is particularly required in conjunction with the CPL and the ATPL. The chart below gives an overview of the route to earn the Instrument Rating:
